Watch Yellowstone Season 4 Episode 1 Premiere “Half the Money”
On Yellowstone Season 4 Episode 1 Premiere, the fate of John Dutton, Kayce and Beth are all revealed. The season kicks off following John, who has been ambushed.
He is barely conscious, but he manages to write some words of the attacker’s description with his blood on Rip’s truck which has just pulled in. Meanwhile, Kayce has come under fire from some gunmen near his office door. In response, he throws a grenade that ends up finishing them.
Immediately, he telephones Rip, who has just informed him over John’s message. Thereafter, Kayce emerges with the Sheriff to get to the bottom of this.
As for Beth, she manages to come out alive from Schwartz & Meyer’s offices, who were determined to buy the Dutton family ranch. And yet, this does come at a cost. She has been left heavily burnt
Moving back to the family ranch, Kayce informs Monica that she must go to the lodging house in order to take cover. Just as she decides to do so, Monica and Tate come under attack from a man wearing a mask.
Monica ends up in a struggle but comes off worse with most likely a concussion. Tate, however, fares much better. So much so that Tate ends up shooting him. The pair then run to the lodging.
Things are no better there, though. It turns out that there was another attacker who they discovered dead. Similarly, Jimmy has been knocked out, and Walker is firing gunshots at someone.
Moving back to Kayce, he is still on the hunt for the assailants that had attacked John. He ends up cutting off their van, after which there is gunfire.
The attackers are all dead, but Kayce is wounded too. He drops at the roadside, with his fate left to the mercy of circumstances. It is not known whether he has made it out alive.
Then in a flashback, an ancestor from the Duttons is riding a horse with two boys. They encounter the Montana tribe’s campsite, who are burying their father.
The implication is that we will see how this led to the ‘partnership’ between the Dutton’s and Chief Thomas Rainwater— the leader of the Confederated Tribes of Broken Rock. Moving back to the present, we find John in hospital. He is comatose, with Beth learning that the doctors do not believe he will gain consciousness. She then comes across a boy named Carter, whose father is also in hospital.
After learning in the last season that she could not have children, Beth becomes protective over him. As such, she accompanies Carter during his last words to his father.
As we move onto another scene, a man hints that he knows what happened to the Duttons. While he is playing poker, Mo abducts him under the orders of Thomas Rainwater. He drags him through a field with horses in the hope of getting the attacker’s names.
Mo is under the impression that his tribe will be targeted next after the Duttons. Meanwhile, John eventually manages to leave the hospital, but he has been left a cripple.
He has extensive damage to his spine and can hardly use his fingers. After returning to the ranch, he decides to get back to work. John has no interest in getting any physiotherapy.
Thereafter we come across Kayce, who stands up in the fields, confirming that all the Duttons survived. Soon after, Beth goes to see Jamie and blames him for the attack.
She informs him that she will end his life, after which she returns home to Rip. The latter leaves early in the morning with bad intentions in his mind.
He comes across Roarke, a worker for Market Equities that has been wanting to acquire Yellowstone’s land, who is fishing. That is when Rip opens a container with a snake before launching it in Roarke’s direction. He is bitten and then collapses.
The episode ends with Rip walking way. The Duttons know they must find their attackers.
