The Xbox One is the name of the Xbox’s third generation. When the Xbox One first came out, it was available with or without Kinect. At launch, users who desired the Kinect features would have to spend $499 for their console. Users who don’t want Kinect will simply have to pay $399 for an Xbox One.
Microsoft released the latest Xbox console on November 22, 2013, ushering in the next generation. Microsoft promoted this version of Xbox by emphasizing the Kinect hardware, as well as television integration within the built-in apps and voice commands.
The first Xbox One was only around for a few years. This version of Xbox was released on November 13, 2013, less than three years after the original Xbox was discontinued. This was owing to the Xbox One S’s release.
This version of Xbox lagged behind its primary competition Sony’s PlayStation 4 in terms of sales. Overall, all Xbox One models (original Xbox One, S, and X) sold around 48.69 million units, while the PlayStation 4 sold nearly 115 million units. One of the key reasons for the large discrepancy is that Sony launched the PlayStation 4 at a loss and offered the PlayStation 4 for $100 less than this version of Xbox. Both the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 had limited backward compatibility with this version of Xbox.
This version of Xbox reverted to the PC’s x86 architecture, employing AMD’s own Jaguar accelerated processing unit, which has two 1.75GHz quad-core modules. To be able to run at 4K resolution with 7.1 surround sound, the system needs AMD’s Radeon HD 7000 series graphics card. Internal temperatures can also be monitored by the console, which can then alter the cooling as needed.
Microsoft announced backward compatibility with a number of Xbox 360 games in June 2015 via software emulation. In terms of Xbox original titles, Microsoft confirmed at E3 2017 that the Xbox One would support them as well.
Titanfall, Dead Rising 3, and Forza Motorsport 5 were some of the top Xbox One exclusive titles that maintained sales numbers strong at the time. The Xbox One is still in second place with 40 million units sold, trailing Sony’s PS4, which has sold over 90 million units globally.

There were two variants of the Xbox One S: a standard Xbox One S and an All-Digital Xbox One S. Only a year after its release, the All-Digital version was withdrawn on June 16, 2020. The normal version of Xbox S is still being manufactured and may be purchased using the URL provided above.
On August 2, 2016, this version of Xbox was released. The console has been modified to be 40% smaller than prior models and does not include a power brick. With a minimalist white style, black accents, physical power, and eject buttons.
The design, as well as the ability to play UHD Blu-Ray, are the main distinctions between the Xbox One and the Xbox One S. Other differences include the ability to play at 4K resolution (60FPS), an HDMI 2.0 connector, and a faster GPU on the this version of Xbox S.
Aside from Robot White, the Xbox One S is also available in Deep Blue. Gears of War 4’s Deep Blue color was a limited-edition version.
Along with a 4K Blu-ray drive, this version of Xbox adds high-dynamic range (HDR) functionality to the machine for TV streaming rather than gaming. The games are up-scaled to 4K on the system, but it does not provide the same level of resolution as the Xbox One X. The GPU was increased by 70% to 914MHz, while hard drive sizes were increased to 1 and 2TB.
With the debut of the Xbox One S console came a redesigned controller with extended Bluetooth compatibility and a textured grip for a more comfortable grip. On the Xbox official site in 2017, the Xbox Design Lab was launched, allowing you to create and customize a controller with the design and colors of your choice.
While the Kinect was a great hit on the Xbox 360 consoles, sales have steadily declined over time. In October of 2017, Microsoft announced that it would no longer be producing Kinect.
Xbox One X (2017)
CPU: AMD 8-core APU – 2.3 GHz

Project Scorpio, which was eventually renamed Xbox One X, debuted with improved hardware and a fresh design. Unfortunately, this version of Xbox was only available for three years before being phased out in favor of the next-generation Xbox Series X/S.
On November 7, 2017, this version of Xbox was released. This is the first Xbox console to provide genuine 4K gameplay at 60 frames per second, capable of generating six teraflops of speed while still running the same games and applications as previous Xbox One systems.
The Xbox One X was available in Matte Black or Robot White. When the Xbox One X was released, however, purchasers could pre-order a limited-edition ‘Project Scorpio Edition’ Xbox One X with a dark-gradient finish and a green ‘Project Scorpio’ inscription for a short period.
When played on an Xbox One X, some backward compatible titles were promoted as ‘Xbox One X Enhanced,’ which included a console-specific patch/update.
Better visuals, higher framerates, larger resolutions (up to 4K), more visual effects, and Dolby Atmos support are all common features in this version of Xbox Enhanced games. In total, 429 Xbox One X games have been improved.
The Xbox One X boasts a clean simple design with a pure matte black hue that looks identical to the Xbox One S but is significantly smaller, making it the smallest Xbox console ever produced. The console is powered by an AMD processor with eight cores running at 2.3GHz and 12GB of shared GDDR5 RAM. The Polaris architecture makes use of AMD’s Radeon graphics card, which is restricted at 1172MHz.
With its high-end components and capabilities, the Xbox One X was designed for 4K lovers, but Microsoft made it clear that the system can still be used by those who don’t have ultra high definition televisions. The system also has backward compatibility with all previous Xbox One games.
