Disney Plus originally appeared on our screens in November of this year, and it has since been a streaming service favorite. You may watch a plethora of original feature-length films, documentaries, series, and much more – not just from Disney, but also from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and others. With all of that fantastic Disney material, you may be wondering how much Disney+ costs.
It’s a reasonable question considering the cost of the Disney Plus subscription has risen since its first launch. The price increase went into effect in August 2021, but certain members received a postponement if they lived in a specified country or signed up before February 23, 2021.
In this article, we’ll go over the normal Disney Plus price and its Premier Access option, as well as what’s included and how to sign up. In addition, we’ll learn whether Disney Plus offers free trials, what packages are available, and how it compares to rival streaming services. Let’s get started.
How Much Does Disney Plus Cost?
Disney Plus is a one-size-fits-all subscription service. There are no tiers to choose from; simply subscribe and you’re done. It cost $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually ($5.83 per month) when it originally began, which was much less than competing streaming services like Netflix.
Even after the Disney Plus price hike, the pricing remains far lower than competitors. The current price of Disney+ in the United States is $7.99 a month or $79.99 annually ($6.66 per month). If you merely look at the annual membership price rise, it appears to be quite steep, but when divided over 12 months, it works out to less than a dollar increase.
Customers will still get a wonderful bargain, and given that Disney+ has over 100 million annual subscribers, we’re sure they’ll be pleased with the tiny increase. You may learn more about Disney+’s subscribership by reading our streaming service statistics.

How Much Does Disney+ Cost in Different Locations?
Although Disney Plus is offered in over 50 countries, prices vary slightly. Canadians can expect to spend $11.99 per month (about $9.50) or CA$119.99 per year. Meanwhile, Australians will pay $11.99 (about $8.60) and New Zealanders would pay $12.99 (approximately $8.70) each year, for a total of NZ$129.99.
However, in the Americas, Mexicans pay 159 Mexican pesos a month (roughly $7.75) or MX$1,599 per year, while Brazilians pay 27.90 Brazilian reals per month (around $5) or BRL$279.90 per year.
Across the pond, European Disney Plus costs 8.99 euros a month (approximately $10) or EUR€89.99 per year, whereas customers in the United Kingdom pay 7.99 pounds (approximately $10.75) or GBP£79.90 per year. But those are only a few examples.
How Can I Get Free Disney+?
First, let’s discuss refunds. Regrettably, Disney Plus does not normally provide refunds. That’s not to say you can’t cancel your subscription at any moment; you can.
However, you will not receive a refund for any remaining time in your payment month, but you will be able to watch material until the end of that billing cycle. If you require a refund for any reason, you must contact a customer care agent.
There’s also no good news about a free trial of Disney Plus. At debut, you could get seven days of free Disney streaming, but that ended in June 2021 for most countries. Japan’s free trial persisted for a while, but after checking with one of the best Disney Plus VPNs, it appears to be gone as well.
There are a few alternative ways to watch Disney Plus for free, albeit they may not be suitable for everyone. We’ll go over them below, but if all else fails and you still want to see Disney+ in action, signing up for a month is your best choice. It will only cost $7.99 per month and you can cancel at any moment, but it will be sufficient to see if you like it without breaking the bank.
Disney Plus is available for free through Verizon
Six months of Disney Plus are free for new Verizon Unlimited users. It’s only accessible with certain Unlimited plans — and only to people in the United States — so it’s not for everyone, but it’s absolutely worth looking into.
New Verizon subscribers can get six months of Disney Plus for free. If you do not cancel before the free period ends, you will be automatically switched to the monthly plan at $7.99.
What Does a Disney+ Subscription Include?
Because Disney Plus is a one-size-fits-all subscription, each consumer receives the same material. Okay, so programming may differ slightly in some areas, but this could be due to existing arrangements with regional services, and for the most part, Disney Plus’ global content will be very consistent.
Disney’s Star content is a wonderful illustration of this. It’s only available with a Disney Plus subscription in about 17 countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. It’s not available with Disney Plus in the United States, though, because most Star material is already available on Hulu – another incentive to acquire the Hulu-Disney+ combo.
You will, however, have access to all of the content available in your region, with the exception of Premier Access movies, which we will discuss in the following section. Many titles are available in 4K UHD and HDR, and everything is ad-free, so there are no bothersome commercials. You also get limitless downloads for up to ten streaming devices and the ability to stream on up to four devices at the same time.
What Disney+ Shows and Movies Are Available?
Let’s move on to the type of content you’ll receive. You’ll have access to practically all of Disney’s masterpieces, including Cinderella, Star Wars, Toy Story, and even High School Musical. We say nearly because some films, such as Song of the South, have been barred from being viewed on the service due to “outdated cultural stereotypes.”
You will, however, have access to new releases, originals, and series from a variety of creators, including Disney, National Geographic, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel shows and movies, such as Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Moon Knight.
Some content is only available on Disney+, including the Loki series, The Mandalorian, Luca and Raya, and The Last Dragon. There is also Fox material, such as The Simpsons and Family Guy.
There are around 7,000 TV series episodes and around 500 movies in all. Its collection will almost certainly continue to grow, delivering a wealth of information for every member of the family.
What Exactly Is Disney+ Premier Access?
Although we previously stated that Disney Plus has only one subscription tier, there is an additional bonus available for purchase if desired. Premier Access is a service that allows you to pay for early access to theatrical movies before they are accessible to all Disney Plus users. As a result, you can watch one of the most recent Disney films from the comfort of your own home. All you have to do is pick a movie and pay the cost.
What is the price of Disney+ Premier Access?
The cost of Disney Plus Premier Access is $29.99 per movie, but you can watch it as many times as you like. Disney+ Premier Access is exclusively available to Disney Plus subscribers, and in order to use GroupWatch — which allows you to stream with up to six people — you must all have acquired Premier Access for the same movie.
Simply select the Premier Access title and then either “preorder” or “unlock now.” Then, simply complete the Premier Access purchase process and click “play” to begin streaming. You may also preorder Premier Access movies and enjoy them as soon as they become available.
If you’re on a tight budget, keep in mind that Disney Plus Premier Access films will be available to normal Disney+ subscribers shortly after – usually within three months.
How Do I Purchase a Disney+ Bundle?
While Disney Plus is wonderful for streaming Disney episodes and movies, you may want to watch some other entertainment or sporting events. That’s where the Hulu-Disney Plus-ESPN+ package comes in.
You also save money by combining all three streaming services. In addition, your package can include either Hulu with advertisements for $13.99 per month or Hulu without ads for $19.99 per month.
We have a detailed ESPN-Hulu-Disney Plus bundle setup tutorial, but all you really need to do is join up for Disney+ or Hulu. If you already have a subscription to one or more of these services, you can sign up again and the price will be adjusted.
However, because this is a U.S.-only bundle, you must have a U.S. address and payment method to join up.
How Does the Price of Disney+ Compare to Other Streaming Services?
|Streaming Service||U.S. Monthly Plan||U.S. Yearly Plan||Free Trial|
|Disney+||$7.99||$79.99 ($6.66 per month)||No|
No ads $12.99
+ Live TV $69.99
|$69.99 ($5.83 per month)
|Yes 1 month
Yes 1 month
|Amazon Prime Video||$8.99||$139 for complete Amazon Prime package — ($11.58 per month)||Yes (30 days)|
|HBO Max||Ads $9.99
No ads $14.99
No ads $149.99
Right away, we can observe that Disney Plus is slightly less expensive than Netflix — despite a Disney+ pricing rise. You also don’t have to pay extra for HD or 4K content with Disney Plus.
Hulu is really less expensive, but only if you don’t mind watching advertisements. When you select the no-ads option, the price nearly doubles. Hulu, on the other hand, has amazing original shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, and practically all “adult” programming from Disney, such as Deadpool, goes straight to Hulu.
Amazon Prime Video costs nearly the same as Netflix’s normal fee, but you don’t have to pay to get higher streaming quality. HBO Max is more pricey, but it has a fantastic portfolio that includes original shows like Mare of Easttown.
Finally, BBC iPlayer is free, but you may need to use a BBC iPlayer VPN because it is not available outside of the United Kingdom.
Disney Plus is a terrific low-cost streaming service for the entire family, but we can see why it’s partnered with other large streaming providers like Hulu and ESPN+. With the bundle, you get a full streaming package that includes shows, movies, sports, and perhaps live TV for the entire family.
How Do I Sign Up for Disney+?
It is simple to sign up for Disney Plus. It is available in over 50 countries, including those in North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia/Pacific. If you are not based in one of those countries or are traveling, you may be able to stream Disney Plus using a VPN. Just keep in mind that some nations, such as the United States, require a country-specific address and payment method.
With everything out of the way, let’s go over how to create a Disney Plus account. Sign up via a browser, mobile device, or TV-connected device like Roku TV, Amazon Fire TV, or Apple TV.
